The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

August 24th

0650 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 40-year-old San Leandro male on his outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0828 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated a construction trailer burglary on Willow Street at Enterprise Drive. The loss is miscellaneous construction tools.

0859 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes located a vehicle near Sussex Place and Salisbury Drive displaying false registration tabs on the license plate. The registered owner of the vehicle was issued a citation and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

1532 Hours: Sergeant Hoppe investigated a minor injury hit and run accident on Cedar Boulevard near Central Avenue.

1553 Hours: Officers responded to a non-injury accident at Thornton Avenue and Cedar Boulevard where a vehicle had driven into a fence adjacent to the roadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

2145 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated the theft of a 2005 Honda Civic on the 5700 block of Central Avenue. The vehicle was recovered un-damaged in Oakland later in the shift.

August 25th

0943 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated a single vehicle hit and run collision at the intersection of Mirabeau Drive and Haley Street, which resulted in a stop sign being knocked over. A temporary stop sign was placed at the intersection.

0227 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Knutson contacted and arrested a 30-year-old male for being under the influence of alcohol on the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

August 26th

2039 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male and a 20-year-old San Lorenzo female for being under the influence of alcohol in the Home Depot parking lot, 5401 Thornton Avenue. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2123 Hours: Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 32-year-old transient male for disorderly conduct on the 6000 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

August 27th

1131 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a single vehicle rollover collision on Thornton Avenue near Gateway Boulevard. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

1156 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated a window smash auto burglary on Swindon Court. The loss is a pair of shoes.

1315 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 28-year-old East Palo Alto male for his outstanding warrant on the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1338 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated a vehicle vandalism on the 36000 block of Bettencourt Street.

1905 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson responded to a disturbance on the 37000 block of Saint Christopher Street. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the Officers arrival, but was eventually located at his residence in Fremont where he was arrested. The 34-year-old Fremont male was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2054 Hours: Officer Herbert recovered a Honda Accord reported stolen out of Alameda at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel, 34905 Newark Boulevard.
