August 7th
Battery - 3070 El Cerrito Plaza
At 0633 hours, a 21-year-old male from Oregon punched the victim several times causing injury to the victim’s face. Upon arrival officers detained the male. The male was transported to the El Cerrito police station for booking. After booking the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Petty Theft - 10650 San Pablo Ave.
At 1037 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter at CVS. A 28-year-old male from Richmond, fled the scene and was located nearby by an officer. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and issued a citation.
Forgery - 11100 San Pablo Ave:
At 1620 hours, an officer responded to the report of a check forgery. Five minutes prior a 53-year-old female from Berkeley passed a stolen $190 check. The checks were stolen in an auto burglary two weeks prior in Larkspur. The female left her ID behind when she fled the bank on foot. Investigators will conduct follow-up.
August 8th
Possession of a Controlled Substance - San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd:
At 1437 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 51-year-old male of Richmond for being in possession of suspected tar heroin along with various other narcotics. After booking at the El Cerrito police station, the male was released on a citation.
Armed Robbery - Potrero Ave / S. 55th St:
Around 1342 hours, an officer reported two suspects approached the victim armed with a handgun. Suspect #1 punched the victim and took her property. The suspects fled northbound on S. 55th.
Auto Burglary - 9889 San Pablo Ave:
A Community Service Officer reported between 0920-0950 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the front right window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property.
Shoplifting – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1945 hours, two suspects loaded a cart with about $350 in Hennessy and left without paying. Suspect 1 was described as a white male, 5-08 to 5-10, medium build, and wearing red jacket and black shorts. Suspect 2 was described as a black male, 30s, 5-08 to 5-10, slim build, shoulder length dreadlock hair, and wearing a multicolored jacket.
Possess Controlled Substance, Resisting, Parole Hold – Potrero Avenue / S. 55th Street:
At 2113 hours, an officer attempted a bicycle stop on a bicycle ridden by a 38-year-old man from Richmond. The man fled on his bike and then on foot. He was eventually secured in handcuffs after a brief struggle and found to be in possession of methamphetamines. A records check revealed he was on parole. He was arrested and booked at the ECPD. Parole was contacted and a hold obtained. He was cited on the new charges and transported to county jail on the parole hold.
Shoplift – (CVS) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2202 hours, a suspect filled a basket with about $150 in merchandise and left through the rear emergency door without paying. The suspect was described as a white male, 40-50, dirty gray shoulder length hair, 5-10 to 6-00, medium build, and wearing a black jacket and dark pants.
Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest, Battery on a Peace Officer, Possess Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Carlson Blvd:
At 0331 hours, an officer witnessed what appeared to be a physical fight at the bus stop and detained the involved parties. Both parties were heavily intoxicated. A 25-year-old man from Richmond was trying to restrain his 24-year-old girlfriend from Novato after they were refused service on the bus due to their level of intoxication. The male suspect refused officers’ orders to sit down. The female then decided to intervene and pushed and hit an officer. She was taken to the ground and physically resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff her. The male decided to try and come to prevent the female’s arrest and was taken to the ground and handcuffed. The male was placed in a patrol car. The female resisted attempts to place her in the back of the patrol car and spit on an officer. A search of her property revealed cocaine in her purse. Both were booked directly into county jail.
August 9th
Grand Theft - 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0936 hours, a Community Service Officer reports that the wheels and tires from a 2017 Honda Accord were stolen dome time during the night.
Stolen Vehicle - 1100 block of Liberty St:
At 1610 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. In between 0000 hours and 1400 hours, unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1991 black Nissan Pathfinder.
DUI – Pomona Ave / Curry St:
At 2124 hours, Officers responded to a collision in which one of the parties was reported to be intoxicated. A 60-year-old female from Berkeley was arrested for DUI. She was booked at the ECPD and then transported to county jail.
Stolen vehicle – 1500 Block Elm St:
At 2353 hours, an officer located a 97 Honda Accord which was reported stolen to RPD on 8/6/17. The 16-year-old male driver from Richmond was arrested, booked at ECPD, and released to his mother.
August 10th
Residential Burglary - 1100 Block of Arlington Blvd:
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via the garage and stole property. The theft occurred in between 8-7 at 1500 hours and 8-10 at 0730 hours.
Petty Theft - 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1111 hours, an officer reported unknown suspects entered the business and fled the store without paying for $98 in merchandise.
Stolen Vehicle -11755 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reported a 29-year-old female from Pittsburg presented fraudulent information to purchase a vehicle at the business.
Petty Theft - 5815 Cutting Blvd:
At 1158 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect fled the business with several baseball caps.
Trespass - 400 Block of Kearney St:
At 1640 hours, officers responded to the location for a subject in the victim’s backyard. Officers located a 29-year-old female in the yard. She was placed under Citizen’s Arrest. After booking she was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
August 11th
Theft of License Plates – 300 block of Ramona Ave:
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s rear license plate. The theft occurred between August 3rd to August 10th.
Obstructing a Police Officer, Shoplifting – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 2216 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to the report of two subjects causing a disturbance in the liquor aisle and refusing to leave. When officers arrived, store security advised the subjects had stolen alcoholic beverages. A 61-year-old male from Richmond and a 56-year-old male from Richmond, fled the store and refused to stop for officers. One of the males was abrasive towards officers and took a fighting stance. The male was taken to the ground and arrested. Both subjects were placed under citizen’s arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / El Dorado St:
At approximately 0227 hours, an El Cerrito police officer stopped a 35-year-old male from Oakland. The male had a domestic violence warrant from Oakland PD. The male was arrested booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
August 12th
Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Warrant Arrest – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 1504 hours, an El Cerrito police officer was dispatched to Safeway for an unwanted subject. A 42-year-old male was contacted by police and had a warrant out for his arrest. The male was also in possession of methamphetamine. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
Warrant Arrest – Walgreens 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1546 hours, an El Cerrito police officer was flagged down about a theft in progress inside the store. Police officers contacted a 38-year-old male from Richmond and learned that he had two warrants out of Alameda County. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest – (Dollar Tree) 11555 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1727 hours, an El Cerrito police officer was dispatched to a subject stealing merchandise inside the store. A 36-year-old female from Oakland had a warrant for her arrest. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
August 13th
Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – San Pablo Ave / Knott Ave:
At approximately 1357 hours, an El Cerrito police officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the passenger, a 45-year-old female from Richmond for failing to re-register as a sex offender. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – San Pablo Ave/ Eastshore Blvd:
At approximately 2128 hours, an El Cerrito police officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested a 24-year-old male from Richmond for driving under the influence of alcohol. The male was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation to a sober friend.
Commercial Burglary – 10340 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 0047 hours an El Cerrito police Corporal noticed a front window of the business had been shattered. El Cerrito police officers searched the interior of the business and did not locate anyone inside. Video surveillance showed that at approximately 2159 hours the suspect shattered the window with an unknown object, reached inside the store and stole lottery tickets
The suspect is described as a black male adult, 30-40 years old, 5’10”, 190lbs, wearing a light colored long sleeve shirt, a dark colored North Face jacket, large gardener type hat, black pants and moustache.
August 14th
Auto Burglary – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza:
An unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger side window to the victims green Honda Civic and stole the victim’s purse. The incident occurred between 0728 to 0731 hours.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Fairmount Ave:
At approximately 1128 hour’s officers responded to the area of Pastime Hardware for unwanted subjects near the business. An El Cerrito police corporal contacted a 57-year-old male from Vallejo and learned that the male had a DUI warrant out of El Cerrito. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Elder Abuse and Forgery – 900 block of Galvin Dr:
Sometime in July 2017, the caregiver for the elderly couple that lives at the residence, stole their checks, forged their signatures and took an estimated $3500.00 from the couple’s bank account.
Shoplifting – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1445 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to the store for a theft that just occurred. An El Cerrito police officer detained a 41-year-old female from Richmond as she attempted to flee on an AC Transit bus. The female was in possession with property from the store and was positively identified during an infield show-up. The female was placed under arrest, booked at the police department and released on a citation.
Grand Theft – (Verizon) 410 El Cerrito Plaza:
At approximately 1549 hours officers responded to the store for a theft that just occurred. Two suspects entered the store and stole (2) IPhone’s and (1) tablet that were on display, while two other suspects acted as lookouts ($2000). The suspects were last seen fleeing towards Fairmount Ave in an older model white sedan.
The suspects were described as black male juveniles, approximately 15 years old, wearing black hooded sweatshirts.
