Advisory

Flood Advisory until 07:00PM

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... West central St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 700 PM CDT

* At 459 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Covington and Madisonville. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in continued minor flooding.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ST. TAMMANY

Instructions:

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely. A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
