The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

August 17th

1520 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a malicious phone calls complaint that led to a citizen’s arrest.

1651 Hours: Officer Pacheco accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 29 year old Willows female for petty theft at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2332 Hours: Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 50 year old transient female for her three warrants on the Central Avenue overpass. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2332 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 41 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the Central Avenue overpass. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2034 Hours: Officers investigated four auto burglaries in the parking lot of the businesses near the intersection of Newark Boulevard and Jarvis Avenue. The loss is various electronic items and personal property.

August 18th

0554 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated the theft of a green 1997 Honda Civic on the 6700 block of Normandy Drive.

1639 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated a package theft of the 36300 block of Haley Street.

2017hrs: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 28 year old Newark male for driving under the influence on the 37000 block of Ash Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2017 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 30 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 37000 block of Ash Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0257 Hours: Officer Rivera and Field Training Officer Arroyo responded to a disturbance on the 6500 block of Graham Avenue. A 26 year old Newark male was arrested for battery and booked into the Fremont Jail.

August 19th

1118 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated the theft of a brown 2017 Honda Accord (CA license # 7YCJ757) on the 37000 block of Magnolia Street.

1400 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 22 year old Union City male for hit and run, driving under the influence and no proof of insurance on Arden Street at Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released to a responsible adult. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1644 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated the theft of a bicycle from the Shell gas station, 6005 Jarvis Avenue.

1655 Hours: Officer Musantry contacted and arrested a 42 year old transient male for his outstanding warrants on the 34700 block of Ardenwood Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1959 Hours: Officer Rivera and Field Training Officer Arroyo were responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for two suspects in custody for Petty Theft. A 20 year old female and a 19 year old male, both from Richmond were arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2017 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a vehicle burglary at Ray’s Sushi, 3100 Newpark Mall. The loss is a bag containing two passports.

2111 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary at Chandni, 5748 Mowry School Road. The loss is laptop computers and miscellaneous electronic equipment and two passports.

0142 Hours: Officer Losier stopped a vehicle on Jarvis Avenue for driving without its headlights on. The driver was issued a citation for not having a required ignition interlock device installed, driving on a suspended license and no proof of insurance. The driver was issued a citation and released at the scene.

0219 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 45 year old Newark male was arrested for violation of a restraining order. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

August 20th

0809 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated the theft miscellaneous moving equipment from an unlocked moving truck on the 5800 block of Thornton Avenue.

1413 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated the theft of a white 2003 Chevy Silverado (CA License #7F15759).

1839 Hours: Officers responded to an in progress vehicle theft at Home Depot (5401 Thornton Ave). A 24 year old male and a 30 year old male, both from Hayward were arrested for attempted carjacking and disorderly conduct. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2344 Hours: Officer Losier responded to a disturbance on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. A 44 year old transient male was arrested for a restraining order violation and booked into the Fremont Jail.
