Total Solar Eclipse Occurring Today !

Today, Monday, August 21st is the date for the celebrated total eclipse of the sun that will be visible in the United States - especially in our area. This is rare, since the last total solar eclipse that occurred in the St. Louis area was in 1442. While public safety has been planning for the event for some time, it is still unclear as to what impact the event will have on traffic and other crowd situations.

The event particulars can be viewed at this website: http://stlouiseclipse2017.org/ Some of the most important tips for the public include exercising caution when driving during the afternoon hours when the eclipse will occur, as many drivers may have their attention diverted from the roadway while the eclipse is happening. DO NOT stop on an interstate highway or other traffic lane to view the eclipse. It is illegal and dangerous to do so. Also, do not look directly at the sun without eye protection available at area vendors. You can find more information on viewing glasses and other tips at the website provided. Enjoy this rare event !
