INCIDENT: Illegal Gambling Investigation

LOCATION: 26498 Baseline Road, Suite #D and #G, Highland

SUSPECT: Houman Moghaddam, 32 years old, resident of Highland
John Navarrette, 25 years old, resident of Cherry Valley

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1:05 p.m., Highland deputies served a search warrant at the IE Smoke and Vape located at 26498 Baseline Road, #D in Highland. This search warrant was served after deputies received information in reference to illegal gambling activity taking place at the smoke shop and at another business located within the strip mall. Upon service of the search warrant at the IE Smoke and Vape, deputies located 15 illegal gambling machines that accepted money for gambling games, three loaded firearms and a large amount of hidden US Currency. Houman Moghaddam was arrested for facilitating the illegal gambling activity.

Deputies conducted additional investigation at the same strip mall at suite #G. A second illegal gambling establishment was located and found to be operating without a valid business permit of any kind. With the assistance of Highland City Code Enforcement this location was shut down with the business owner, John Navarrette, arrested for facilitating the illegal gambling activity.
