Flooding & severe weather possible later this afternoon and evening
The Office of Emergency Management advises residents that conditions are favorable for strong to severe thunderstorms to affect the area between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. The atmosphere is ripe with moisture so 1.5-2.5” per hour rainfall rates are quite possible, which would cause poor drainage/roadway flooding.
Of the severe weather threats, damaging winds of 40 to 60 miles per hour would be the main concern in a strong-severe storm. Any storm will be capable of producing occasional-frequent lightning.
Strong winds could result in a few power outages. Be sure to check your flashlights and charge your phones and laptops.
Please use caution when driving this evening into tonight. Remember, avoid roads that are already flooded.
