(Etowah County, Alabama) An Attalla man has been arrested in connection to sexual extortion, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Dustin Lee Gibbs, 23, of Attalla, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted sexual extortion, a felony, and one count of distribution of private images, a misdemeanor,” investigator Adam Chapman said.

Gibbs allegedly attempted to intimidate a female victim into having sex with him. He told the female if she refused he would distribute private images of her on social media. The victim reported the incident to investigators when Gibbs posted the nude photo. He admitted to uploading the image out of vindictiveness.

He was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $6,000 bond.
