(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man has been arrested in connection to robbery, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Jimmy Franklin Vernon, 25, of Gadsden, was arrested and charged with one count of first degree robbery, a felony and one count of fourth degree theft of property, a misdemeanor,” investigator Will Farley said.

Vernon allegedly went into a residence on Haney Road, Gadsden, and robbed a male victim at gun point. He then took a backpack containing miscellaneous electronic equipment. During the robbery, Vernon hit the victim with the gun causing a laceration on his head.

The firearm used during the robbery has been recovered and identified as a stolen weapon in Gadsden. The backpack was also recovered.

Vernon was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
