Covington Police Vehicles Equipped with Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Chief Tim Lentz announces that, in light of recent reports across the nation of carbon monoxide fumes leaking into police vehicles, the Covington Police Department began installing carbon monoxide detectors in its police vehicles today. Reports of carbon monoxide poisoning in police versions of Ford Explorers, the primary vehicle used by the department’s patrol division, prompted the purchase of detectors for all police vehicles.
The detectors cost $10.90 each and will last 18 months. They are being installed on the dash of each vehicle so that officers can easily monitor them.
Chief Lentz states, “At $10.90 each, these detectors are a worthwhile investment to protect the department’s most precious asset, the men and women who keep our streets safe.”
