Real Talk with a Real Deputy Sheriff

Presenter- Deputy Louis Denver Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
On August 8th, 2017 Deputy Sheriff Louis Denver met with children and their parents to talk about issues multi-cultural persons might face when living in America.
Pacific Clinics Multi Cultural Center, located at 18623 E. Gale Ave in Industry, was developed to assist new immigrants and multi-cultural members in adapting to the American culture. Multi-cultural community members learn about traditions, resources available to them, and laws in the state of California.
The multi-cultural center offers parenting classes for adults to help them transition from their respective countries laws to those of the state of California. The parents learn about schools, and the dilemmas their children may experience here in the state. Pacific Clinics and Walnut Sheriff station have had a five year collaborative relationship in public education. Deputy Louis Denver has been an instructor for the Pacific Clinics ID for Success Program at schools in the Rowland and Hacienda/La Puente Unified School Districts. The Real Talk with a Real Deputy Sheriff was a venue where Deputy Louis Denver could talk to the children along with their parents about issues they may encounter while in school. The topics of bullying, drug trends and gang involvement were discussed. Parents were able to ask questions about prevention and identification regarding these issues.
