The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
August 14th
0942 Hours: Officer Johnson recovered a 2017 Ford Explorer that was stolen out of Folsom on the 7300 block of Diary Avenue.
1107 Hours: Officer Hogan contacted and arrested a 28 year old San Jose male for his outstanding warrant on the 7200 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
1332 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a theft at Oasis Gym, 35145 Newark Boulevard. The loss is cash.
1516 Hours: Officer Mapes responded to a vehicle collision with minor injuries on Thornton Avenue at Poplar Street. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
1820 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a vehicle vandalism incident at the Courtyard by Marriott Newark Silicon Valley Hotel, 37905 Newark Boulevard.
1944 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a vehicle burglary at Nijo Castle, 39888 Balentine Drive. The loss is a Macbook Pro laptop.
