Starting this 2017-2018 school year there will be a new school zone for Whitt Elementary.
The current school zone on Woodcreek Way will extend north of Canyon Crest Drive to Ridge Glen Drive. Also, there will be a new school zone on Canyon Crest Dr. that will extend east and west of Woodcreek Way. School zone signage will be posted this week that reflects the times of the zones. The times will remain the same as they are now, 7:00am-7:45am and 2:15pm-3:00pm. Initially, the new signage will not have flashing lights, but they are on order and should be in place in September.
Additionally, we are also adding a crossing guard to the intersection of Canyon Crest Drive and Woodcreek Way. The crossing guard will be at that intersection during the posted school zone times.
The highlighted areas on the photo are approximate and represent the new addition to the current school zone. No other changes are being made to the current zones.
The City of Sachse is firmly committed to the safety of all of our citizens, especially our children. We believe that this change to the school zone and the addition of a crossing guard will assist in making this area safer for your children.
