The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

August 9th

0943 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 54 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 36700 block of Munyan Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1043 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 64 year old Merced male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1614 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 32 year old Castro Valley male for false vehicle registration on Stevenson Boulevard at 880. The suspect was issued a citation and released. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1650 Hours: Officer Wang investigated an identity theft case that was discovered when fraudulent online accounts were made using the victim’s personal information. No loss was reported.

1936 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an auto burglary at BJ’s Restaurant, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is an Apple laptop, iPad and laptop case.

2133 Hours: Officer Mapes and Wang contacted and arrested a 29 year old Newark female for possession of a controlled substance on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released. Officer Mapes and Wang also contacted and arrested a 21 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

2258 Hours: Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 27 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 36800 block of Gum Court. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0010 Hours: Officer Wang seized the license plates off of a vehicle for false registration at Big Lots, 5433 Thornton Avenue. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
