The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

August 3rd

0749 Hours: Officer Horst responded to a vehicle abatement tow on the 5400 block of Central Avenue. A 25 year old Bay Point male was arrested for obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1445 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated the theft of a gray 1998 Honda Civic (License # 6MZP395) at Home Depot, 5401 Thornton Avenue.

1541 Hours: Officer Johnson seized the license plates off a vehicle at NewPark Mall for false registration.

2139 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated an auto burglary at Ray’s Crab Shack, 5989 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a backpack containing various items.

2200 Hours: Officers Mapes and Ackerman contacted and arrested a 33 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. Officers also arrested a 25 year old transient female for drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were issued citations and released.

2207 Hours: Officer Wang investigated an auto burglary at Food Maxx, 39966 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is a baseball bat bag containing gloves and other items.

2324 Hours: Officer Mapes recovered a U-Haul van reported stolen out of Hayward on Cherry Street at Robertson Avenue. A 33 year old Newark male was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and a 21 year old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2357 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 34 year old Union City male and a 29 year old transient female for their outstanding warrants on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0211 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 25 year old Newark male for theft and resisting arrest on the 36400 block of Colbert Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

August 4th

1228 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 29 year old San Jose male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and his outstanding warrants on the 5900 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1354 Hours: Officer Pacheco recovered a Jaguar SUV that was reported stolen out of Fremont on the 6100 block of Pomegranate Avenue.

1404 Hours: Officer Posadas responded to a non-injury vehicle collision at Starbucks, 35040 Newark Boulevard. A 19 year old San Jose male was issued a citation for driving without a license and failing to provide proof of insurance.

1614 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 50 year old Newark female for her outstanding warrant on the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1708 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated the theft of a sliver 1998 Lexus GS300 (License # 5RSH302) at Fine Line, 37625 Sycamore Street.

2014 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested an 18 year old male for possession of alcohol on Campus Court at Dumbarton Circle. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2022 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 22 year old Stockton female for shoplifting and her outstanding warrant at NewPark’s Macys. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.


August 5th

0839 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary at Homewood Suites, 39270 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is construction tools.

0855 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a hit-and-run incident on the 7800 block of Peachtree Avenue.

0930 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a theft on the 35800 block of Spruce Street. The loss is a stroller that was taken from the front porch.

1422 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a residential burglary on the 37100 block of Elm Street. The loss is jewelry.

1430 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a package theft on the 6300 block of Mirabeau Drive. The loss is a shirt and two dresses.

1946 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated the theft of a gray 2001 Honda CRV (License # 4RNC292) at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 34905 Newark Boulevard.

0029 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 29 year old Fremont male for driving under the influence. The suspect was issued a citation and released to a sober adult.

0152 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a theft at 7-Eleven, 7288 Thornton Avenue. The loss is a 12 pack of beer.

0437 Hours: Jackman investigated a vandalism case at One World Jujitsu Academy, 37300 Cedar Boulevard.

0506 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated a non-injury vehicle collision on Cedar Boulevard at Smith Avenue.


August 6th

0828 Hours: Officer Germano investigated a vehicle vandalism incident on the 6500 block of Cedar Boulevard.

1211 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated a non-injury vehicle collision on Newark Boulevard at Jarvis Avenue. A 63 year old Hayward male was arrested for driving with a suspended license and failing to provide proof of insurance. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1446 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 23 year old Newark male for probation violation on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1928 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated a theft at Johns Incredible Pizza, 440 Newpark Mall. The loss is a wallet.

1938 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks seized license plates off of a vehicle on Chelsea Drive at Nottingham Court for false registration.

2056 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary at Burlington Coat Factory, 300 Newpark Mall. The loss is an Apple iPhone.

2110 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated the theft of a red 1993 Suzuki Katana (License # 13X6459) on the 5400 block of Port Sailwood Drive.

0610 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 31 year old Hayward female for drug paraphernalia and her outstanding warrant on Baine Avenue at Newark Boulevard.
