Calgary Fire Near Wofford Heights - UPDATE - Evacuations Lifted

Gracias. // This is an update to previous ReadyKern messages concerning the Calgary Fire near Wofford Heights. // Effective 8 p.m. Sunday, August 6th, the remaining recommended and precautionary evacuations affecting residences in Wofford Heights will be lifted. At 8 p.m. Sunday, August 6th, NO evacuations will be in effect in Wofford Heights for the Calgary Fire. // Fire Department and utility company staff, vehicles, and equipment remain in the area. Residents should exercise appropriate caution around them. // Residents are advised that although there may not be active fire where they are, they should remain alert, aware of their surroundings, and prepared to respond appropriately during emergencies. // Returning residents are also cautioned that ash and debris from burned buildings may be hazardous. If it becomes necessary for you to come into contact with ash and debris on your property, you should take steps to help protect yourself such as: // Wearing a dust mask. // Wearing gloves, long sleeves, and pants to minimize ash contact with the skin. // Wetting down ash and debris to minimize inhaling dust particles. // The Kern County Public Health Department will provide more information about ash and burn debris cleanup and removal to affected residents in the coming days. // If you have an emergency, call 911.
