The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
August 1st
0137 Hours: Office Wang investigated the theft of a 2004 gray Honda Civic (License # 5FJP768) at 24 Hour Fitness, 1001 Newpark Mall.
0530 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated an auto burglary on the 7600 block of Shady Hollow Drive. The loss is several power tools.
0700 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated the theft of a 1996 blue Honda Civic (License # 6TZV989) on the 8300 block of Thornton Avenue.
0756 Hours: Officers responded to a collision involving two semi-trucks that caused a fuel and oil spill on Thornton Avenue at Gateway Boulevard. The intersection was reopened following cleanup.
1130 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated the theft of a 1999 green Honda Civic (License # 7RHL179) on the 35200 block of Lido Boulevard.
1847 Hours: Office Wang investigated the theft of a 1998 white Honda Civic (License # 3XHS987) on the 37300 block of Elm Street.
2327 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 28 year old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia and concealing evidence on Cherry Street at Dairy Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
