The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

July 27th

0811 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 49 year old San Jose female for her outstanding warrants at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1048 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 38 year old transient male for his outstanding warrants on the 34700 block of Ardenwood Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1509 Hours: While conducting a security check of the NewPark Mall parking lot, Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 28 year old Vallejo male for grand theft and possession of burglary tools. He also arrested a 21 year old Suisun female for grand theft, possession of burglary tools and providing false identification to an officer. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

1703 Hours: Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 36 year old Oakland female for her outstanding warrants on the 7700 block of Peachtree Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2119 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 31 year old Newark female for possession of a controlled substance and her outstanding warrants on the 37100 block of Walnut Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2225 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 48 year old Newark female for her outstanding warrants on the 5700 block of Wintergreen Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0422 Hours: Officer Johnson recovered a stolen U-Haul truck at the Double Tree Hotel, 39900 Balentine Drive. The registered owner was notified.

July 28th

0735 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary at 85 Degrees Bakery, 35201 Newark Boulevard. The loss is an Apple laptop and Apple iPad.

0800 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 32 year old Fremont male for misappropriation of found property on Highway 84 at Interstate 880. The suspect was issued a citation and released. The property was seized.

0800 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 30 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia on Lake Boulevard at Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0932 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 30 year old Newark male and a 28 year old Newark male for possession of burglary tools on the 37200 block of Greenpoint Street. Both suspects were issued a citation and released.

2136 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 37 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 36700 block of Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0243 Hours: Officer Simon contacted and arrested a 51 year old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia on Cedar Boulevard at Forbes Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0351 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 40 year old Fremont male for his outstanding warrants at the Newark Community Center Park, 35420 Newark Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

July 29th

0816 Hours: Officer Johnson recovered a reported stolen truck, trailer and boat on Elm Street at Wells Avenue. The registered owner was notified of the recovery.

1318 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 37 year old transient male for his outstanding warrants on the 6100 block of Robertson Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1744 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated a non-injury hit-and-run incident that occurred on July 22nd at Sear’s NewPark Mall.

2024 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 36 year old Berkeley male for falsely exhibiting a firearm on Thornton Avenue at Willow Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2240 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary at Ray’s Sushi, 3100 Newpark Mall. The loss was a purse containing various items.

2305 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary at BJ’s Restaurant, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a purse containing various items.

0041 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 45 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0117 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 49 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 6800 block of Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

July 30th

1439 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 32 year old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1611 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a hit-and-run collision on Willow Street at Thornton Avenue. A 51 year old San Leandro female was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Santa Rita Jail. The driver of the second vehicle, a 39 year old East Palo Alto male was arrested for driving without a license. He was issued a citation and released.

2006 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 34 year old Fremont male for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property at Pick N Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0314 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson investigated a hit-and-run incident on Mowry Avenue at Alpenrose Court.
