For Immediate Release Chief Tim Lentz reports that Detectives are currently investigating a homicide that took place at 1045 N. Florida St. in Covington. At 1:50am today, the Police Department received a 911 call reporting gun shots in the area. Officers arrived at the 1045 N. Florida St. address within three minutes to find Antoine Collar B/M D.O.B. 12/03/1990 from Denham Springs in the front driver’s seat of a rented Hyundai, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives and Crime Lab Technicians worked through the night and continue through the morning processing the scene. We believe that Collar was visiting the female resident of 1045 N. Florida and as he was in his car preparing to leave when, he was murdered. Motive has yet to be determined. There were no drugs found on the scene.
