Softball Game for Charity

Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It brings communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raises money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer.

In a joint effort to support this notable cause, a charity softball game was proposed. The gauntlet was hurled by the Walnut City Staff and graciously picked up by the Walnut-Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station personnel. The duel took place at Suzanne Park on the evening of July 20th.

Sargent Saldecke distributed shirts to station players, each with the name WALNUT on the back along with the number 29. The opposition showed up dressed in black. Youth and skill, along with a few good ringers, won out over age and enthusiasm.

A good time was had by all and the event was followed by a Bar-B-Que of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. The real measure of success, however, was that over $800 was raised for Relay For Life!
