The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

July 21st

1209 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a burglary at Public Storage, 6800 Overlake Place. The loss is unknown at this time.

1559 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to a disturbance at Huong Lan Sandwiches, 39055 Cedar Boulevard. Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 57 year old Fremont male for violating a court order. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1652 Hours: Officer Posadas contacted and arrested a 28 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Fremont City Jail.

1750 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 38 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 37300 block of Ash Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2301 Hours: Officers Rivera, Arroyo and Losier responded to street racing activity near Campus Court. When police arrived, the participants scattered and several citations were issued.

0042 Hours: Officer Rivera and Field Training Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 25 year old transient female for being under the influence of a controlled substance on Jarvis Avenue at Lido Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0116 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 41 year old Newark male for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license on the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0515 Hours: While conducting a security check near Baine Avenue at Birch Street, Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 31 year old transient male for outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

July 22nd

0824 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a burglary at Wash and Dry Laundromat, 5582 Thornton Avenue. The loss is a purse and cellphone.

1059 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated an auto burglary in the Sizzle Spot parking lot, 5855 Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a laptop, backpack, phone and charger.

1354 Hours: While conducting a probation search on the 37800 block of Birch Street, Officer Musantry contacted and arrested 49 year old Newark male for possession drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1628 Hours: Office Johnson investigated damaged mailboxes on the 3900 block of Jarvis Avenue. There were no known losses.

2229 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested an 18 year old San Francisco male for driving without a license and obstructing / delaying of a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0001 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated a hit-and-run on Thornton Avenue at the Highway 84 exit. Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 30 year old Richmond female for hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0139 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated the theft of a silver 2000 Honda Civic (License #4NHP557) at the Lion Food Center, 39055 Cedar Boulevard.

0440 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 21 year old Newark female for disorderly conduct on Wells Avenue at Oak Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

July 23rd

0840 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 34 year old Union City male for possession of a controlled substance and false vehicle registration. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0843 Hours: Officer Allum responded to a non injury vehicle collision at the Newark Pavilion, 6430 Thornton Avenue.

1642 Hours: Officer Wallace responded to an auto burglary at AMC NewPark Mall, 400 Newpark Mall. The loss is clothing worth $2,000.

1918 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks responded to two auto burglaries at Ray’s Sushi, 3100 Newpark Mall. The loss is a folding chair.

2134 Hours: Officer Wallace and Field Training Officer Johnson responded to a theft at Burlington Coat Factory, 300 Newpark Mall. Officers contacted and arrested a 30 year old transient male for possession of burglary tools and his outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
