The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

July 19th

0837 Hours: Officer Musantry contacted and arrested a 44 year old transient male for violation of a court order and resisting arrest on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0921 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 34 year old Union City male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 36300 block of Beech Place. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1211 Hours: Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 42 year old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia on Ardenwood Boulevard at Newark Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1604 Hours: Officer Musantry contact and arrested a 20 year old Newark female for her outstanding warrants on the 36600 block of Leone Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1646 Hours: Officers responded to a hit-and-run incident on Wells Avenue at Ash Street. Officers arrested a 37 year old Oakland male for hit-and-run and possession of a stolen vehicle. The registered owner was notified of the recovery.

2031 Hours: Officer Wallace responded to Macy’s NewPark Mall for a shoplifter in custody. A 19 year old Hayward female was arrested for petty theft and vandalism. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

2343 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a non-injury single vehicle collision on Thornton Avenue.

0205 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a two vehicle collision on Balentine Drive at Stevenson Boulevard. A 26 year old Fremont male was arrested for driving under the influence. The suspect was issued a citation and released after receiving medical treatment.
