Stranded motorist call leads to recovery of stolen ATV.
On July 18, 2017, at 7:12 p.m. Captain Bryan Ellis stopped to check on a stranded motorist who was broke down on Old US HWY 41 near County Road 100 North. Upon approaching 2015 Polaris Ranger side by side Captain Ellis identified the driver as 18 year old Kolton M. Galligan of Carlisle, Indiana. During a roadside investigation Captain Ellis ran the ATV through the National Crime Information Center and the Indiana Data and Communications System and discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from a residence in Owensville on July 17, 2017. At the conclusion of his roadside investigation Captain Ellis placed Mr. Galligan into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Galligan was charged with a Felony count of Theft and a Misdemeanor charge for Possession of Paraphernalia. Mr. Galligan remains in custody on a $750 bond.
All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
