#022 Battery
At 9:36 a.m., Officer Tatola arrested Rommel Annipot (M 52, Fremont) for battery after responding to a disturbance between roommates on the 48000 block of  Starlite Ct. 

#010 Driving without a License Arrest
At 8:10 a.m., Officer Carter arrested a 42 year old San Jose resident for driving without a license in the area of Mission Blvd./W. Pickering Ave.

#034 Burglary Warrant Arrest 
Officer Franchi arrested Alberto Cortes (M 22, Newark) for his felony burglary warrant. 

# 039 Robbery (In-Custody)
At 1:39 p.m., a female suspect entered a pizza restaurant on the 3900 block of Washington Blvd and told the cashier that someone was pointing a gun at him and ordered him to open the cash drawer.  Once the drawer was opened, the suspect grabbed the cash and fled.   Officer M. Smith recognized the description from an earlier contact as resembling probationer Lorraine O’Donnell (F 26, Fremont).  Sgt. Little, who was teaching FTO in-house, and three new officers were in the area and saw O’Donnell near a vehicle.  She eventually walked into a nearby liquor store to purchase alcohol with the stolen money.  Units converged on the store and detained O’Donnell without incident.  She was positively identified and arrested for robbery. 

#057 Auto Burglary Arrest
At 7:49 p.m., officers were sent to an in progress auto burglary where a victim was chasing a suspect.  As it turns out the victim’s vehicle was burglarized and their access card was being used at the Ross Store.  The victim and her uncle decided to drive to Ross and locate the suspect still inside the store.  Well then the foot chase was on and the suspect fled the store.  The victim’s uncle continued to chase as the police were called to the scene.  Eventually the suspect was caught and arrested, then taken to jail.  Case investigated by Officers Catassi and Snow.  The suspect was identified as Cody Ward (M 25, Fremont).

#059 Strong Arm Robbery
A strong arm robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Premier Ballroom in the 4100 block of Cushing Pkwy.   The victim was inside his vehicle when the suspect approached and opened his car door and demanded the bag the victim was holding.  The victim turned over the loss which was a bag contained two pairs of dancing shoes. 
Suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult in his 40’s, clean shaven, 5’00”, 170lbs, wearing a baseball cap and khaki pants.

#003 Purse Snatch Robbery
At 12:14 a.m., as a female was getting into her vehicle in the 43900 block of Pacific Commons Blvd, an unknown suspect came up from behind her and robbed her of her purse.  The purse contained the victim’s iPhone.  The phone was found discarded in a garbage can at the Shell station on Auto Mall Pkwy.   The Shell station was checked for video. Officer Latimer is the investigating officer.  The suspect was described as a white or light skinned Hispanic male, 6’, with a medium build.  He had brown shaggy hair with possible facial hair, last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt with yellow sleeves.

#004 Stolen Vehicle
At 12:27 a.m., Officer Gonzales took a stolen vehicle report from a parking lot located in the 45000 block of Fremont Blvd.  Loss was a white 2013 Chev Camero 2dr. License #7UZB679.

#005 Residential Burglary Attempt
At 4:45 a.m., a reporting party called to report that an unknown person attempted to gain access into their residence in the 37950 Fremont Blvd. via a bedroom window.  The reporting party was unable to provide a suspect description and waited at least 10 minutes before calling the police.  Officer B. Smith is the investigating officer.

#055 Confrontation with a Shop Owner in Niles
On July 13, 2017, our department received information via social media of an incident that occurred at a shop in the Niles District earlier in the day.  The information was received very late at night and assigned to our patrol division for follow up the next day.  On June 14, officers contacted the shop owner and obtained details of the incident.  The social media posting described two men who entered the shop and argued with the shop owner over her decision to display a rainbow flag. After returning to the store for a second time, one of the men was upset when his photo was taken and slapped at her hand, causing her to lose the grip on her phone. Further follow up has been assigned to our Detective Unit and the investigation remains ongoing.  We are still taking statements and evaluating the incident to determine the crime type.

#028 & 029 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Parole Violation
At 7:00 p.m., Officer Gerber and Vucurevich walked the Niles area and stopped 5 people for drinking in public in a parking lot located in the 37300 block of Niles Blvd.  Michael Boski (M 63, Fremont) was arrested for his felony parole violation and Orlando Marin (M 54, Fremont) was cited for possession of a methamphetamine pipe.

#027 Injury Collision Auto vs. Bicyclist
Officers were dispatched to an injury collision at Broadmoor Common and Grimmer Blvd where a vehicle collided with a 9 year juvenile riding a bicycle.  Investigating officers learned the juvenile was riding on the sidewalk with friends.  At some point, the juvenile rode off the sidewalk.  The vehicle strikes the juvenile in the roadway and the bike goes under the vehicle and the rider goes over the hood.  The juvenile sustained injuries and was transported to a regional trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.  Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.  The investigation is ongoing and being handled by Traffic Officer Piol.

Community:
K9 Officers Macciola, Kennedy, Madsen and Layfield attended the Niles Dog Show and the Pet Food Express Cover Your K9 fundraising event.  The dogs got a lot of attention!

#012 Strong Arm Robbery Arrest
At 7:06 a.m.,  female staying at a hotel in the 46200 block of Landing Pkwy reported being robbed by an unknown male near the Chevron gas station at Fremont Blvd/Cushing Pkwy.   She chased the suspect on foot towards the Goodnite Inn and lost sight of him.  Several patrol units responded to the area and Curtis Smith (M 37, Oakland) was located hiding in the bushes east of the Goodnite Inn.  The victim’s stolen iPhone was found in his pocket.  Officer Lastrape handled the investigation. 

#013 Arson Investigation
At 7:00 a.m., residents found the American Flag hanging in front of their house had been burned overnight.  Officer Haugh handled the initial report and evidence collection and detectives have taken over the investigation. 

Two incidents throughout the duration of the day resulted in two individuals being placed on mental health evaluation holds.

#023 Suspended License
At 1:51 p.m., Officer Richards conducted a traffic stop near Fremont Blvd and Stevenson Blvd.  He cited a 26 year old adult male for driving on a suspended license.

#029 Drug Paraphernalia
At 6:06 p.m., Officer Vucurevich stopped bicyclist Thomas Beltran (M 41, Fremont) near School St and Bodily Ave.  During a probation search he located a pipe on Beltran.  He was cited and released.

#032 False Registration
At 7:05 p.m., Officer Rose stopped a vehicle near AutoMall Pkwy and Grimmer Blvd occupied by two people.  Officer Rose found the 34 year old adult male driver had the wrong plates on the vehicle due to the two year expired registration.  He was cited and released.

#033 Suspended License
At 8:35 p.m., Officer Blanchet stopped a vehicle at Stevenson Blvd and Cedar Blvd.  He cited the driver a 39 year old adult female for driving on a suspended license.

#030 Drunk in Public
At 6:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 40600 block of Fremont Blvd. to check on a male drinking in front of the business.  As officers were responding, several callers reported the male was stumbling into traffic.  Officers located Jesse Katches (M 29, Fremont) and found he was heavily intoxicated.  He was arrested and booked at Santa Rita by Officer Gerber.

#003 Under the Influence, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
At 1:40 a.m., Officer Layfield contacted Joseph Herrera (M 21, Fremont) inside a convenience store located on the 39900 block of Farwell Dr.  After conducting a drug influence evaluation tests on Herrera and located methamphetamine on his person, he was arrested for a being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
