Police Find Missing Children. Man Convicted for Harassing Teenage Boy. Blood Drive July 20th.

Police Find Missing Children

A quick police response Friday afternoon led officers to find three reported missing children. At 4:30pm a frantic mother called 911 and told South Brunswick Police her three children ages 9, 8, and 2 were missing from her home in South Ridge Hills townhouse complex. The mother said she was doing housework and the children were in a neighboring room. When she returned to the room all three children were missing and she could not find them in her house.

Several officers headed to the home to search for the children.  Officer Gagan Chopra was a block away from the home when he spotted the children running after a dog. Officer Chopra helped get the children and the dog into his patrol car. The children told the officer that they all ran out of the house because their French bulldog had gotten out. They never told their Mom because they were worried about the dog getting away. All three children and the dog we reunited with the Mom in under ten minutes. Chief Raymond Hayducka said, “It is the everyday efforts of officers that make a difference. This mother was distraught and the officers’ fast response found the children in record time.”

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced that a jury convicted  a 49-year-old man of harassment for twice following a teenage boy into the bathroom of a local restaurant in South Brunswick.

George Daymond Shirley, 49, of North Brunswick was convicted by a jury, on July 10, 2017, of harassment while he was on parole or probation, a 4th degree criminal offense.

Shirley faces a prison term of up to 18 months when he is sentenced in New Brunswick on October 13, 2017 by Superior Court Judge Benjamin Bucca.

During the trial, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Carver presented evidence and testimony showing that in November of 2016 the defendant twice followed a teenage boy into the bathroom of a local restaurant in South Brunswick and made inappropriate comments to him.
