| Narrative: |
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Jail Classification Unit are investigating an inmate death that occurred at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (PTDF) in Ventura.
On July 12, 2017, at approximately 9:49 a.m., deputies noticed Mr. Magallon was unresponsive and not breathing in his cell. Emergency aid was rendered by deputies and jail medical staff. Ventura City Fire personnel, along with American Medical Response (AMR) personnel were summoned to provide more advanced life saving efforts. Ultimately, Mr. Magallon was pronounced deceased at the jail shortly thereafter.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau. There was no indication of violence or suspicious circumstances. As a matter of policy and procedures, all inmate deaths are investigated by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau.
