Identity Released of Man Fatally Stabbed in Moorestown Sunday

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. – Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Moorestown Police Chief
Lee Lieber announced today that a man who was fatally stabbed during an apparent home
invasion early Sunday morning has been identified as a 26-year-old Moorestown resident.
The decedent, James R. Doyle, of the 400 block of North Church Street, was pronounced dead at
a house in the 700 block of Hartford Road in Moorestown after a resident there called police at
12:23 a.m. Sunday to report that he had stabbed two intruders who entered his home.
Doyle’s death was ruled a homicide during an autopsy performed today by Burlington County
Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood.
The investigation into the home invasion and stabbings is ongoing. The name of the Hartford Road
resident is not being released at this point because he has not been charged with a crime.
Detectives are also investigating whether a man who arrived at Lourdes Medical Center of
Burlington County in Willingboro later Sunday morning with stabs wounds to his leg is connected
to the Hartford Road incident.
The case is being investigated by the Moorestown Police Department and the Burlington County
Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigators are Moorestown Police Detective Jason Burk and
BCPO Detective Anthony Luyber.
Officers from the Cinnaminson, Delran, Maple Shade and Mount Laurel police departments also
responded to the call.
