7/05 – 11:11 a.m. – Police were called to a home invasion in progress, at a residence on West White Street. Police arrived and found four subjects on the property. Two of the subjects, a male and female, had entered the residence and had failed to leave after being told to do so by the homeowner. One of the individuals is the daughter of the homeowner. Mark L. Melvin, age 33 of Smithton, and Aspen M. Schnellbecher, age 21 with no current permanent address, were arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass. During the incident police discovered evidence of stolen documents from a residence in Mascoutah, and those documents being used in a forgery in Belleville. The Mascoutah Police Department was notified, and the evidence turned over to them. After they conducted an investigation, they obtained a warrant from the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office on Aspen M. Schnellbecher, charging her with Forgery; a class 3 felony. Her bond was set at $20,000.
