Chief Tim Lentz announces that the Covington Police Department is seeking the public’s help locating Kawon Moore, wanted for Aggravated Second Degree Battery stemming from a weekend altercation.
On Monday (July 3) at approximately 2:00AM, officers responded to an area hospital, where a victim was being treated for multiple injuries sustained in an earlier altercation, who wished to file a report.
At approximately 10:20PM (July 2), the victim was standing with a group of people near the intersection of W 28th Ave & N Polk St, when he was attacked by Kawon Moore. Moore struck the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground. He punched the victim several more times and kicked him in the head. While attacking the victim, Moore reportedly had an object in one hand, believed to be a firearm, and made reference to killing the victim.
The victim suffered loss of consciousness and several injuries, including multiple facial fractures. Officers are actively searching for Moore, believed to be in the Covington or New Orleans areas. An arrest warrant for Moore has been issued on the charge of LRS 14:34.7 Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
If you see Moore do not approach him, he is considered armed and dangerous. Callers may remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.
