Child Abuse Arrest

(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden couple has been arrested for child abuse, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Garren Dodd McDonald, 48, and Shelley Lanette McDonald, 43, both of Gadsden, were arrested on June 28th, and each charged with one count of child abuse, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.

Information was reported to the Sheriff’s Office by the Department of Human Resources, on May 19th, that an 18-month old foster child was possibly being abused by foster parents. After a full investigation, along with many interviews conducted by the James M. Berrie Center for Children, warrants were obtained and issued for the McDonald’s.

The couple was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $10,000 cash bond each. As a condition of the bond, they are not allowed to have any children living in their house and are prohibited from any unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 years of age.
