The Annual Town of Moraga July 4th fireworks display is the highlight of the celebration of our nation’s Independence Day. Both the Moraga Police Department (MPD) and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) work hard to ensure the safety of all who attend both the day-long celebration and the fireworks display at the Moraga Country Club (MCC).

As in past years, there is a fireworks viewing area located at the MCC driving range and putting green (near the intersection of St. Andrews and Moraga Way). The viewing area has been expanded to accommodate more viewers.

Due to events that have occurred at past events and jeopardized the safety and well-being of residents and fireworks viewers, the remainder of the golf course will be closed before and during the fireworks show. The area will be checked for any hazardous conditions, patrolled by MPD officers and MCC security and MOFD will have engines deployed in the area. Anyone in the closed area will be escorted off or subject to trespass laws. Please know that the decision to close the course was not made lightly and balanced the imposition on MCC members and Town residents with the need to keep the area and residents safe

Additionally, as has traditionally occurred, Moraga Way will be closed on July 4th, beginning about 8:45 p.m. and lasting until the end of the fireworks display. This closure is due to the road’s proximity to the fireworks and the need to keep it open for emergency vehicles.
