Car Stop Leads to Recovery of Stolen Pistol

On 6/25/17 at approximately 12:04am, a Berkeley Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a SUV for vehicle code violations on the 2200 block of Bonar Street. The car didn’t immediately yield to the officer’s lights and siren.  Instead, it pulled into the rear parking lot of an apartment building on the same block.

A computer check of the occupants’ information showed that the driver and front passenger were active to probation.  During a probation search of the vehicle, a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun (which had been previously reported stolen) was recovered.

Arrested were Jason Holman 35, of San Pablo and Laquon Walker 24, of Berkeley.

The Berkeley Police Department takes great pride in our ongoing efforts to take illegally possessed firearms off the streets and help make our community a safer place.
