The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 22nd

0513 Hours: Officer Allum contacted and arrested a 34 year old Hayward male for reckless driving. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0615 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on Civic Terrace behind the Police Station involving two vehicles and three subjects. The drivers of both vehicles were cited for driving on suspended licenses and their vehicles were towed from the scene. A 25 year old San Jose male was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a 22 year old San Jose male was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and retaining the identification of another with the intent to defraud. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

1221 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 37 year old Newark male on the 36200 block of Ruschin Drive for his outstanding warrants and resisting arrest. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1644 Hours: Officer Posadas contacted and arrested a 49 year old Newark female on the 6400 block of Baine Avenue for her outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1950 Hours: Officers responded to the 7300 block of Thornton Avenue on a report of a man lying in the gutter. Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 51 year old Newark male for public intoxication. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2210 Hours: During a warrant service at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court, Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 24 year old Oakland male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0018 Hours: Officers responded to the Chevron gas station, 5895 Stevenson Boulevard for an interrupted commercial burglary. The burglary was interrupted by a passerby and entry was not gained. Officer Khairy is investigating the incident.

0230 Hours: Officers responded to the 35900 block of Orleans Drive on a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence. Responding officers found the residence had been burglarized. Officer Geser is investigating this incident.

June 23rd

0653 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated the theft of a green 1995 Chevrolet Pickup (CA License #7B09247) on the 6200 block of Thornton Avenue.

0807 Hours: Officers responded three auto burglaries in the Rosemont Square and Lido Faire shopping centers. The loss is luggage and a backpack.

0909 Officer Fredstrom investigated an auto burglary in the Chase Suites parking lot, 39150 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is tools.

1856 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated a hit and run accident on the 39700 block of Cedar Boulevard.

2233 Hours: Officer Herbert and Field Training Officer Johnson responded to Laurel Street at Juniper Street to investigate a report of a subject passed out behind the wheel of a car. Officer Herbert arrived on scene and found the vehicle empty. Officer Herbert eventually located a heavily intoxicated 56 year old Newark male. After efforts to get him a ride failed, he was transported to Fremont Jail.

June 24th

0959 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated two auto burglaries on the 36300 block of Cherry Street. The loss is unknown at this time.

1010 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated the theft of a mountain bike from a garage at the Sycamore Bay Apartments, 37171 Sycamore Street.

1020 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated an auto burglary on the 36400 block of Christine Street. The loss is a wallet.

1332 Hours: Officers responded to a report of a subject slumped over at the bus stop on Newark Boulevard and Mayhews Landing Road. A 50 year old transient male was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Fremont Jail.

2311 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to the 36600 block of Dugan Court to investigate a suspicious circumstance. Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 28 year old Newark male for peeping into a window. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 25th

1419 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 25 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 7300 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1519 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 55 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia during a probation search on the 5800 block of Ravenwood Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2023 Hours: Officer Herbert and Field Training Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 40 year old Oakland female for possession of stolen property during a probation search of a vehicle on the 39600 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

2338 Hours: While performing a traffic stop on Cherry Street at Thornton Avenue, Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 22 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
