Protect Your Car at the Gym
Those of you that work out at a fitness center should be aware of an ongoing crime trend that is occurring all over Southern California. Criminals have figured out that many people tend to leave their purses, wallets, cell phones, jewelry, and watches under the car seat, in the glove box, or in plain view inside their cars rather than taking them inside the gym or leaving them at home. The criminals wander through the parking lots without drawing attention to themselves taking a quick gaze at the floorboards and back seats. They often carry gym bags and look like they are either coming from the gym or going in. Sometimes, they pretend to be deeply involved in an important phone call as they drift from car to car. A purse strap sticking out from under the seat or a covered item in the car will also get their attention. When no one's looking, they either punch the lock or smash the window and steal the property. It only takes a few seconds.
