Advisory

Flash Flood Watch. Clink link for more info. Sheriff Victor Hill.

*****Sent with the permission of Fire Chief/EMA Director Landry Merkison*****
Clayton County is under a Flash Flood Watch until 8pm this evening. We have already experienced a significant amount of rainfall after yesterday’s event and the county will continue to get additional rainfall throughout the day.
Soils are becoming more saturated, which may lead to flooding of low lying and flood prone areas. In addition, creeks, streams, and rivers may overflow their banks. Stay clear of roadways that appear to be covered by water.
Falling trees are another threat to the area, which may strike homes and power lines. Trees falling in the roadway may create traffic delays and may block roads.
Public safety personnel be aware that call volume may increase due to damages to homes, and vehicle accidents from road conditions. Always wear safety vests for high visibility and be safe when navigating through the streets.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
