Jackson police have charged Ebony Pruitt with Second-Degree Murder and Ebony’s mother, Vernetta Pruitt, with Tampering with Evidence in a homicide investigation.
 
Around 3 a.m. on June 21, 2017, Jackson police responded to a stabbing at 159 Glendale Street. The victim, Kelset Price, was found with multiple stab wounds. Price was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
 
Criminal Investigators responded to the scene. The investigation has determined that Ebony Pruitt, 30, and her boyfriend, Kelset Price, 34, both of Jackson, were inside the home at 159 Glendale Street. Ebony Pruitt fatally stabbed Price during an altercation. Vernetta Pruitt, 53, of Jackson, removed the knife from the crime scene. Investigators later recovered the knife outside another home.
 
Both women are in custody at the Madison County Jail. They are scheduled to be formally arraigned at 8 a.m., June 23 in Jackson City Court.
