The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 21st

0756 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to the area of Parada Street, near Stevenson Boulevard for an indecent exposure report. The suspect was not located and the investigation is ongoing.

0811 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated the theft of a bicycle from an open garage on the 4900 block of Stafford Place.

0840 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary in the Double Tree Hotel parking lot, 39900 Balentine Drive. The loss is a briefcase.

1020 Hours: Officer Horst investigated the theft of an industrial air compressor from a construction site on Willow Street.

1919 Hours: Officer Ackerman responded to a battery call on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. The suspect had left the area prior to Officer Arrival. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

2114 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary in the parking lot on the 3500 block of Newark Boulevard. The loss was a backpack which was recovered by Officer Smith in the same parking lot while investigating another auto break-in.

2141 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary in the parking lot on the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard. The loss is a backpack containing a laptop computer, headphones and cash.

2236 Hours: Officer Smith investigated an auto burglary in the parking lot at 5790 Jarvis Avenue. The loss was a backpack which was recovered with its contents intact by Officer Wallace in the same parking lot while investigating another auto break-in.

**** Please do not leave ANY items of perceived value in plain sight in your car. Backpacks, briefcases, makeup purses, change in the cup holder and even your gym bag with your smelly workout gear are all targets. It only takes 2-3 minutes for a window smash break-in to occur. Place all items in the trunk of your car PRIOR to arriving at your destination. *****

0304 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 30 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrants on Birch Street at Dahlia Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
