...Flash Flooding threat for the Midsouth today and tomorrow... .Tropical storm Cindy will slowly weaken over the next 48 hours as the center moves up to the ARLATEX and then northeastward towards the Lower Tennessee Valley. Moderate to heavy rainfall will initially be possible and more localized across the southern counties later today with developing south to north oriented feeder bands. The focus will then shift to include the northern counties tonight and tomorrow as the center passes overhead. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches...with localized higher totals are possible. * Flash Flood Watch for portions of East Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in East Arkansas, Clay, Craighead, Greene, Lawrence, Mississippi, Poinsett, and Randolph. In Southeast Missouri, Dunklin and Pemiscot. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Gibson, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, Obion, Tipton, and Weakley.
* From this evening through Friday evening.
* Excessive rainfall from Tropical Cyclone Cindy.
* Low lying areas both urban and rural will be most prone to flooding. Travelers should be aware of these threat areas and avoid them if at all possible. In addition persons should avoid outside activity near culverts...ditches and ravines as these have proven deadly during flash flood events.
