Community members are encouraged to complete the online registration (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/national-night-out-2017-city-of-berkeley-tickets-35521295150) so their event will be added to the schedule of locations to be visited by City officials.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
In 2016, Citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, businesses, youth organizations and local, state and federal officials from 16,142 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide joined forces to celebrate the “33rd Annual National Night Out” (NNO). Last year, the City of Berkeley had more than 80 neighborhood, business and community groups participate in the event.
Events typically consist of neighbors getting together for a potluck or barbeque and some go as far as getting a jump house for the young ones and make it a block party. While some groups keep it simple and do an ice cream social, others just do hors d'oeuvres. Whatever your flavor, keep it fun and inviting for all of those in your neighborhood. It is an excellent way to interact with and get to know your neighbors better. Get the word out about the celebration early to get people to participate in your event.
If you have any questions regarding the event or registration, please contact Officers Jumaane Jones or Brandon Smith at (510) 981-5806. We hope to see you at National Night Out!
