This month, the Costa Mesa Police Department conducted undercover operations to deter the sale, purchase, and use of illegal fireworks from the City of Costa Mesa. To date, over 600 lbs. of illegal fireworks have been seized with multiple arrests. The Costa Mesa Fire Department collected and maintained the fireworks. Illegal firework enforcement will continue through the 4th of July. We would like to remind residents that fireworks without the Safe & Sane logo are illegal. It is a crime to sell, purchase and possess illegal fireworks, which carries a penalty of imprisonment and/or fine.
