The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 15th

0659 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an auto burglary at the Courtyard Hotel, 34905 Newark Boulevard. The loss is construction tools.

0842 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated an auto burglary on the 36800 block of Cherry Street. The loss is a “pop-up” tent.

1612 Hours: Officers Fredstrom and Warren contacted and arrested a 58 year old transient male on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue for brandishing a weapon (metal pipe), resisting arrest and parole violation. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2053 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 41 year old male from Long Beach while conducting a warrant service at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2154 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 47 year old male from Union City for false registration tabs placed on his license plate. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2324 Hours: During a traffic stop at the Chevron gas station, 5895 Stevenson Boulevard, Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 21 year old Hayward male for possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

June 16th

0701 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated the theft of a Ford E250 Van on the 35800 block of Dalewood Drive. The vehicle was recovered by the Oakland Police Department later in the day.

1501 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 31 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 36700 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1902 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for a shoplifter in custody. A 29 year old Berkeley female was arrested and booked into the Fremont Jail.

1925 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to a disturbance on the 7600 block of Wells Avenue. A 33 year old Newark male was arrested for brandishing a weapon (machete) and a 39 year old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0519 Hours: Officer Lopez contacted and arrested a 59 year old Stockton male for driving under the influence on Newark Boulevard at Lafayette Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 17th

1533 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 20 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant on the 37700 block of Harbor Light Road. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1728 Hours: Officer Wang recovered a 1996 Honda Accord reported stolen out of San Leandro on Ruschin Drive at Biddle Avenue.

2249 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 5800 block of St. Matthew Drive. A 62 year old Newark male was contacted and arrested for brandishing a weapon (BB Rifle). The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0347 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated an injury collision involving three parked cars on the 6300 block of Rockrose Drive. The driver, a 21 year old female was transported to an out of area hospital for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was issued a citation for driving under the influence at the hospital.

June 18th

0859 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a stolen white 1991 Mazda 2600 (CA License plate #4J78839) on the 36600 block of Cherry Street.

1055 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a non-injury accident on the 37700 block of Harbor Light Road.

1115 Hours: Officer Wang and Field Training Officer Musantry recovered an occupied stolen 2015 Honda Accord on the 39900 block of Balentine Drive. A 19 year old male and a 20 year old male, both from Oakland were arrested and booked into the Fremont Jail.

0517 Hours: Officers Losier and Arroyo responded to a disturbance on the 35500 Blackburn Drive. A 29 year old Newark female was arrested for battery and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
