UPDATE: Sex Offender Community Notification - Santee

UPDATE: Michael Bauer is now in custody after being arrested in Santee for violating the terms of his parole. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) took him into custody on June 14th. Bauer is being held without bail at San Diego Central Jail.

CDCR has prohibited Bauer from returning to the address on Prospect Avenue in Santee.

This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with a safety message on Tuesday, June 13th.

If you live in Santee, be aware that a sex offender is now living in your community.

MICHAEL BAUER is a parolee and used to be a transient in the City of San Diego. He recently moved to 10380 Prospect Avenue, Santee. This address falls within the jurisdiction of the Santee Sheriff's Station.

Bauer served time in prison for molesting a seven year old boy (stranger) inside a fast food restaurant restroom in 2009. He is on parole and UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION (CDCR). A parole officer monitors his movements through a GPS anklet.

Bauer is not allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 or be in the vicinity of places where children gather such as schools, playgrounds, parks, movie theaters, etc.

The Sheriff's Department and the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force are not responsible for the selection of Bauer's residence.

Bauer is not wanted by the Sheriff's Department at this time.

California Penal Code Section 290, also known as “Megan’s Law,” permits law enforcement agencies to warn the community about sex offenders who frequent the area. The purpose of this notice is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and/or their children from sex offenders.

This notification is not intended to induce fear; rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community. Use of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass the subject or any other person will not be tolerated and may result in prosecution.

The SAFE Task Force is composed of participating and member agencies in the County of San Diego including state, local and federal agencies.
