On 6/13/17, Moorestown Police responded to a 911 call at 9:02pm reporting an armed robbery followed minutes later by a silent alarm from the WaWa located at 236 W. Main St. Officers arriving on location were told by the clerk that a male wearing a gray shirt and khaki pants had pointed a silver handgun at her and demanded the money from the register. The male took in excess of $100 and left on foot on Main St. westbound towards Union St. The clerk was not injured. Investigation by officers was able to identify David P. Welsh, age 60 residing in the 300 block of W. Second St. as the subject who committed the Robbery. Welsh was taken into custody by officers at his residence without incident at approx. 12:30am. Welsh is charged with Robbery, Theft, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose. Additionally, Welsh was wanted on a warrant issued by Moorestown Municipal Court for failure to appear on a motor vehicle summons. Welsh was lodged at Burlington County Jail.
