The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 8th

0745 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 45 year old Fremont male on his outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1303 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a hit and run accident on Thornton Avenue at Newark Boulevard.

1913 Hours: Officer Slavazza responded to a report of an injured intoxicated male lying on the sidewalk on Thornton Avenue at Cherry Street. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

0021 Hours: Officers responded to a multi vehicle non-injury accident on Cedar Boulevard at Newark Boulevard. Officer Slavazza arrested a 32 year old female from Fremont for driving under the influence and hit and run. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0254 Hours: Officers responded to a silent hold-up alarm at 7-Eleven, 39620 Cedar Boulevard. The suspect fled prior to Police arrival and was last seen running Northbound on Cedar Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing.

June 9th

0737 Hours: Officer Warren investigated an auto burglary in the Chase Suites Hotel parking lot, 39150 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0759 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary on the 36500 block of Leone Street. The loss is miscellaneous paperwork.

1546 Hours: Officer Horst investigated the theft of a laptop computer and personal items from an unlocked car in the McDonalds parking lot, 35192 Newark Boulevard.

1707 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated an auto burglary on the 6100 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. The loss is a FastTrak unit and personal items.

2150 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 37200 block of Magnolia Street.

0150 Hours: Officers responded to an auto burglary in progress on the 36300 block of Cypress Point Drive. Officer Lopez contacted and arrested a 33 year old transient male for burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 10th

0850 Hours: Officer Franke and Field Training Officer Hogan recovered a stolen Honda CRV on the 36600 block of Bonnie Street. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

1234 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary in the Homewood Suites parking lot, 32970 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1728 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 29 year old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 35500 block of Blackburn Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2250 Hours: Officer Pacheco documented the recovery of a reported stolen 2015 Chrysler at a tow yard on the 8100 block of Enterprise Street.

June 11th

1332 Hours: Officer Germano investigated a pick-pocket incident at the Farmers Market, NewPark Mall. The loss is an IPad.

1457 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated an auto verses bicycle accident on Mowry School Road at Cedar Boulevard. The cyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life threating injuries.

1843 Hours: Officer Johnson accepted the Citizen’s Arrest of a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s NewPark Mall. The suspect, a 35 year old San Jose female was issued a citation and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail on her outstanding warrants.

1850 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a hit & run traffic collision that occurred in the parking lot of the Courtyard Hotel, 34905 Newark Boulevard.

2112 Hours: Officer Losier Contacted and arrested a 31 year old Union City male for driving under the influence on Edgewater Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
