BURNING ORDINANCE

On April 10, 2017, the Cornwall Borough Council amended the Borough burning ordinance to prohibit burning of yard waste (leaves, brush, limbs, branches, etc) in Residential Forest (RF) and Conservation Recreation (CR) districts with the Borough.

The burning prohibition applies to Spring Hill Acres and Iron Valley Estates, which fall entirely within the RF & CR Districts.

In recent years there have been a number of fires in these areas that started by burning brush or leaves and the fires quickly got out of control. One such fire resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to an adjoining property including burning up the underground Comcast and Verizon lines.

Burning of yard waste is now prohibited in all of Spring Hill Acres and Iron Valley Estates.
