The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

June 7th

0819 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 36 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant on the 6700 block of George Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1225 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 24 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant on the 7100 block of Calais Place. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1244 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary that occurred in the IHOP parking lot, 5687 Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer, IPad, Passport and miscellaneous items.

1246 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 62 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia on Newark Boulevard at Highway 84. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1246 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 53 year old transient male for possession of a controlled substance on Newark Boulevard at Highway 84. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1400 Hours: Officers responded to the 35900 block of Argonne Street on a report of two subjects attempting to remove license plates from parked vehicles. Officers located and arrested a 26 year old male and a 28 year old female, both from Oakland for their respective warrants and theft of personal property. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

1938 Hours: Officer Herbert recovered a 1993 Honda Civic that was reported stolen out of San Leandro on Dairy Street at Leone Drive. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

2003 Hours: Officer Norvell contacted and arrested a 21 year old Fremont male for public intoxication, obstructing a Police Officer and resisting arrest on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2258 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 24 year old transient male for his three Misdemeanor warrants on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
