The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 26th

0706 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 34 year old Newark male for public intoxication on the 5500 block of Ravenswood Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0820 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a reported battery that occurred on the 35900 block of Firestone Court. A 43 year old Newark male was arrested for battery and booked into the Fremont Jail.

1137 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 55 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia, and for three outstanding arrest warrants. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1202 Hours: Officer Warren conducted a traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Mulberry Street and arrested the driver, a 24 year old Newark male for driving on a suspended license and for violating the terms of his parole. The passenger, a 23 year old Turlock male was arrested for possession of a loaded and concealed 9mm pistol and for possessing narcotics. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

1524 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 38 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1642 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 30 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1642 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 33 year old Newark male for possessing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on Thornton Avenue at 880. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1916 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 31 year old transient male for possession of a controlled substance on Thornton Avenue at 880. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2032 Hours: Officer Pacheco and Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 41 year old Newark male during a probation search on the 6000 block of Amador Place for possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2056 Hours: Officer Lopez responded to a disturbance on the 37000 block of Birch Street. A 60 year old Newark male was arrested on his outstanding warrant and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0257 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 27 year old transient male for public intoxication on Thornton Avenue at 880. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

May 27th

0956 Hours: Officer Hogan contacted and arrested a 29 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1033 Hours: Officer Slavazza recovered a vehicle reported stolen out of Las Vegas on the 5970 block of Mowry Avenue.

1321 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 31 year old Newark male on his outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on George Avenue at Jennifer Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2052 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 32 year old Oakley female for her outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2122 Hours: Officers Jackman and Pacheco contacted and arrested a 33 year old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during a probation search on the 37200 block of Walnut Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2326 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 39 year old Roseville male for driving under the influence on Central Avenue at Newark Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released to a family member. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

0015 Hours: Officer Lopez was dispatched to O’Sullivan’s Bar, 5660 Thornton Avenue for a patron who arrived at the bar intoxicated, didn’t have identification and was refused entry. The 40 year old Fremont male was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0343 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to a disturbance on the 6900 block of Dairy Avenue. A 50 year old Newark male was contacted and arrested for battery and an outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.


May 28th

1016 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a stolen white 2000 Ford E150 Van (CA license #27215B2) on the 6400 block of Marguerite Drive.

1914 Hours: Officer Lopez investigated a hit and run accident in the NewPark Mall parking lot.

2054 Hours: Officer Lopex investigated an auto burglary in the Ray’s Sushi parking lot, 3100 Newpark Mall. The loss is luggage, laptop computers and backpacks.

2151 Hours: While conducting a security check of the parking lot behind McDonald’s, 3000 Newpark Mall Officer Khairy located a motorhome that was reported stolen out of Oakland. A “high risk” car stop was conducted and two individuals were detained. A 31 year old Oakland female was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail. During the same incident Officer Losier determined that the passenger, a 33 year old Fremont male had three outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. During a search of his person, Officer Losier located burglary tools and keys to a Nissan Altima, which was located in the parking lot. A search of that vehicle revealed a loaded flare gun and several flares. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of burglary tools and his outstanding warrants.

May 29th

1029 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a stolen dark green 1997 Honda Accord (CA License #3VWH908) on the 36700 block of Fair Avenue.

1433 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated a vandalism case at Musick Elementary School.

1838 Hours: Officer Geser investigated a hit and run accident in the Big Lots parking lot, 5453 Thornton Avenue.

2222 Hours: Officer Geser handled a self-surrender warrant arrest at the front counter of the Station. The 55 year old Newark male was issued a citation and released.
