Hazardous Weather Outlook. Please use caution while traveling. Click link for more information. Sheriff Victor Hill
Today:
-Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across the entire area through this evening
-This includes a risk for tornadoes and pockets of damaging winds > 60 MPH
-Increased risk for localized flash flooding - especially areas that have received 4-6+ inches of rain since Saturday afternoon
- Severe threat will diminish from west to east this afternoon into this evening -- the entire area likely "in the clear" by 9PM tonight
Ongoing Flash Flood Potential + Storm Total Rainfall (since Saturday - May 20):
- An additional 1 to as much as 3 inches of rain through this evening on top of these amounts will result in localized flash flooding
- Any location/area that has seen more than 4 inches since Saturday, especially across the higher elevations of north Georgia will be most prone to Flash Flooding.
-Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for much of the area until 8PM this evening
Yesterday revealed the potential for these systems to impact the area. Please remain safe and try to limit travel when possible. Slick roads and hidden damages on roadway can create disaster. Public safety, remain aware that strong winds, coupled with saturated soil can cause trees to fall. Expect a higher call volume of storm related events and plan accordingly.
