The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 18th

1229 Hours: Officer Horst investigated a battery incident in the Oasis Gym parking lot, 35145 Newark Boulevard. The injured party declined prosecution.

2035 Hours: Officer Herbert recovered a Yamaha motorcycle reported stolen out of Sunnyvale behind the Aloft Hotel, 8200 Gateway Boulevard. The registered owner was notified of the recovery.

May 19th

0817 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated a non-injury collision on Thornton Avenue at Willow Street.

0954 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated the theft of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner Double Cab (CA license# LNOSTOY) from Johnny’s Pub parking lot, 5810 Jarvis Avenue.

0811 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested an 18 year old Newark male for vandalism. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1454 Hours: Officer Horst investigated the theft of a maroon 2000 Honda Civic (CA license # 4KMT207) on the 36300 block of Cedar Boulevard.

1710 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance at Rosemont Square, 35000 Newark Boulevard. A 31 year old Hayward female was contacted and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

2015 Hours: Officer Losier responded to a disturbance on the 36700 block of Port Sailwood Drive. A 23 year old Newark male was contacted and arrested for a restraining order violation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2050 Hours: Officer Arroyo investigated a residential burglary on the 5300 block of Milani Avenue. The loss is a passport, cash and shoes.

0002 Hours: Officers Arroyo and Losier responded to a disturbance on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. A 31 year old male and a 23 year old male, both from Newark were arrested for public intoxication and obstructing a Police Officer. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

May 20th

0741 Hours: Officers responded to a four vehicle injury collision at Thornton Avenue and Cedar Boulevard. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

0748 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 42 year old transient male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0946 Hours: Officers responded to an accident with injuries on Central Avenue at Cherry Street. A 32 year old male from Long Beach was arrested and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail for driving under the influence, hit and run, driving on a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

1054 Hours: Officers responded to a hit and run collision on Thornton Avenue near Olive Street. The suspect vehicle was abandoned and the driver fled on foot. Officer Nobbe contacted the registered owner who admitted to being involved in the collision and fleeing the scene. The suspect was issued a citation for Hit and Run.

2125 Hours: Officer Lopez contacted and arrested a 30 year old transient male for a restraining order violation. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0050 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 25 year old Newark male for public intoxication on the 36500 block of Sycamore Street. After attempts to find him a ride home fail, the suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

May 21st

1242 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated a package theft of the 6300 block of Potrero Drive.

2107 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 54 year old San Jose male for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription on Channel Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0125 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 37 year old Newark male for violating the terms of his probation on the 36200 block of Ruschin Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0252 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 23 year old male suspect for public intoxication at the 76 Gas Station, 35457 Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
