Police Searching for Suspect in Theft of Sign from Local Business Caught on Camera
Chief Tim Lentz announces that the Covington Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a man caught on surveillance video stealing a sign from a local business.
The owner of Jewel’s Cigar and Briar Shop in downtown Covington noticed the sign was missing Wednesday morning, as he was preparing to open for the day. A review of surveillance cameras revealed that just before 9:00 PM the previous night (May 16th), an unidentified individual approached from the south side and stole the sign posted in front of the business.
The sign was described as an A-frame, wood construction design with chalkboards attached to both sides, standing approximately 4 feet tall. The suspect in the video appears to be a white male with long dark hair wearing glasses.
A link to the video is attached below. Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Covington Police Department at (985)892-8500.
